OSAKA CITY, OSAKA, JAPAN, September 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- MONOGRIIS, an independent watch brand from Osaka, Japan, has launched the RESTA R50M-001 MIDORI (翠), a new Japanese mechanical watch inspired by the quiet, deep greens found throughout the Japanese landscape.

Inspired by the aesthetics of the 1950s and reimagined with a contemporary sensibility, RESTA is a mechanical watch assembled in Japan. MIDORI introduces a new expression to the collection through a sunray green dial, warm gold-tone hands and indexes, and a deep green lizard-embossed leather strap.

Inspired by the Greens of Japan

In Japan, green appears in countless shades — from the deep tones of a moss-covered garden to the stillness of a forest layered with trees and leaves that change character as light moves across them.

MIDORI draws inspiration from these subtle variations. Rather than pursuing brightness alone, MONOGRIIS sought to create a green with depth and restraint. The sunray finish allows the dial to shift from a dark, subdued green in softer light to a vivid glow under direct illumination.

The dial is complemented by gold-tone hands and indexes, creating a warm contrast against the green surface. A matching deep green lizard-embossed leather strap completes the tonal design, while a butterfly deployant clasp reduces unnecessary bending of the leather during wear.

1950s Aesthetics in a 36mm Case

The RESTA MIDORI measures 36mm in diameter, reflecting the compact proportions of 1950s dress watches. Its distinctive Breguet-style hour hand and small-seconds display bring vintage character to the dial, while the sculpted case and softly raised lugs create changing highlights and shadows on the wrist.

A box-shaped sapphire crystal gives the watch the dimensional character associated with vintage watches while providing the scratch resistance expected from a modern timepiece. The case measures approximately 10.5mm thick, or 13.9mm including the box-shaped crystal.

Japanese Mechanical Movement

Inside the RESTA MIDORI is the Japanese-made MIYOTA Cal. 8N40 automatic movement, offering approximately 42 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The movement can be viewed through a sapphire exhibition caseback.

Each RESTA MIDORI is assembled and inspected in Japan and carries the MADE IN JAPAN designation. The watch is water resistant to 5 ATM and features an 18mm quick-release strap that can be changed without specialised tools.
