— Dr. Ignacio M. Llorente, Managing Director at OpenNebula Systems
MADRID, SPAIN, September 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- OpenNebula Systems, developer of the open source OpenNebula cloud and virtualization management platform, today announced that it has achieved NVIDIA AI Cloud Ready validation, demonstrating its readiness to operate production-scale AI infrastructure for NVIDIA Cloud Partners (NCPs), Neocloud providers, and enterprise and sovereign AI Factories.

The validation was completed on an NVIDIA GB200 NVL72, with OpenNebula successfully completing the NVIDIA AI Cloud-Ready validation suite against the requirements defined in the NVIDIA Cloud Partner Software Reference Guide. The validated architecture combines OpenNebula with several NVIDIA DSX OS™ components to create an integrated infrastructure stack spanning physical infrastructure lifecycle management, virtualization, HPC scheduling, Kubernetes orchestration, and accelerated AI workloads.

The validated configuration included Ubuntu on the compute nodes with KVM virtualization, Slurm for HPC and distributed AI workloads, RKE2 Kubernetes clusters provisioned and lifecycle-managed through OpenNebula OneKS, and NVIDIA Infra Controller for automated lifecycle management of NVIDIA accelerated infrastructure. Additional open source components were used across the stack for observability, security, identity and access management, and other supporting cloud services.

OpenNebula Systems provides 24/7 enterprise support for the integrated OpenNebula-based platform, including lifecycle support and operational assistance across the cloud management layer and its validated integrations with NVIDIA infrastructure technologies. This gives NVIDIA Cloud Partners, Neocloud providers and enterprise operators a clear support framework for production AI deployments.

This validation demonstrates that AI infrastructure operators can use OpenNebula as a unified cloud management layer to expose NVIDIA accelerated infrastructure through multiple consumption models, including bare metal, virtual machines, Kubernetes clusters, Slurm-based HPC environments and GPU-as-a-Service, while maintaining the isolation, automation and operational controls required by production AI clouds.

“NVIDIA AI Cloud Ready validation represents an important milestone in our strategy to provide an open platform for the new generation of AI factories,” said Ignacio M. Llorente, Managing Director at OpenNebula Systems. “Organizations investing in advanced NVIDIA accelerated computing platforms, from systems based on NVIDIA HGX B200 and B300 systems to rack-scale systems such as NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 and GB300 NVL72, need much more than access to GPUs. They need a complete cloud operating environment capable of turning that infrastructure into secure, multi-tenant services for Kubernetes, HPC and AI workloads. With OpenNebula, they can do this through an open platform while retaining control over their infrastructure, data and technology choices.”

From NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 to a Multi-Tenant AI Cloud

OpenNebula completed the NVIDIA AI Cloud Ready validation as an integrated infrastructure system on NVIDIA GB200 NVL72, bringing together NVIDIA infrastructure technologies with virtualization, Kubernetes and HPC environments through a common cloud control plane. The validated architecture enables operators to support bare metal, virtual machines, Kubernetes and Slurm-based workloads on shared accelerated infrastructure while maintaining the multi-tenancy and operational controls required by production AI clouds.

“AI cloud operators need infrastructure software that can turn increasingly powerful accelerated computing systems into reliable, scalable services,” said Warren Barkley, Vice President of Product Management at NVIDIA. “OpenNebula’s achievement of NVIDIA AI Cloud Ready validation demonstrates how its integration with NVIDIA infrastructure technologies can help cloud providers and AI factory operators deploy multi-tenant accelerated infrastructure across virtual machines, Kubernetes and HPC environments.”

An Open European Platform for AI Infrastructure

With its NVIDIA AI Cloud Ready validation, OpenNebula joins a select group of infrastructure platforms validated by NVIDIA for the initiative and is the only validated platform developed by a company headquartered in the European Union.

This comes at a critical moment for Europe. The EU is introducing new requirements and policy frameworks aimed at strengthening technological sovereignty, reducing strategic dependencies, increasing transparency across the software supply chain, and promoting European and open source technologies for cloud and AI. These principles are central to the European Commission’s Cloud and AI Development Act and broader Tech Sovereignty agenda.

As a European-developed, fully open source cloud management platform, OpenNebula provides the control and transparency needed to build sovereign AI infrastructure on top of NVIDIA accelerated computing. This gives governments, cloud providers, research organizations and enterprises a validated platform for deploying AI factories while retaining control over infrastructure operations, workload placement, data, and technology choices.

Building on OpenNebula and NVIDIA Collaboration

The validation builds on OpenNebula’s broader technical collaboration with NVIDIA, including integration with NVIDIA DSX OS technologies, validated support for NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet networking, and validation of GPU virtualization. Together, these capabilities provide NVIDIA Cloud Partners, Neoclouds, enterprises and sovereign cloud providers with an open foundation for deploying and operating production-scale AI Factories.

“Our goal is straightforward: an organization deploying an NVIDIA AI Factory should not have to choose between state-of-the-art accelerated computing and an open cloud architecture,” added Ignacio M. Llorente. “This validation shows that the two can work together at rack scale, combining NVIDIA accelerated computing with the open cloud layer needed to transform infrastructure into services that organizations can operate, share and scale.”

About OpenNebula Systems

OpenNebula Systems is the developer of OpenNebula, an open, vendor-neutral enterprise cloud and virtualization platform designed for sovereign clouds and AI factories.
